People for Good

If you’ve ever lost faith in humanity, this might just restore a small piece of it.

People for Good is a website and movement about average citizens doing good things for others. Why, exactly, are they committed to bringing smiles to people’s faces? Simply because they can.

It’s a crazy concept, I know. But the more surprising part is the sheer number of people who have joined the movement, contributed to the website and shared their stories online. By going to http://www.peopleforgood.ca/, you too can read and share your experience helping a friend, family member or stranger just because you could.

People for Good conducted “The Good Experiment” where they challenged five Canadians to do one good deed everyday. This experiment was meant to test the results concluded by a study stating that doing something good for someone gives you a natural high that can last for weeks, or even months. Needless to say, the challengers reported back with some positive results. Click here to check out their videos.

The campaign also has an app that randomly generates good deeds on the go. Whether it’s something as simple as saying hello to your neighbour, picking up a piece of litter or putting money an expired meter, these little deeds go a long way in brightening both yours and someone else’s day.

So why wait? Do something good, simply because you can.

  1. Given all the judgment crankiness we read on Twitter and Facebook every day, I actually toyed with the idea of creating a campaign like this one, focused on Winnipeg, for the first communication strategy of the PR Major this year. I love this!
